Day 20 of 50, I: • had school finally (after Thanksgiving break)

• uh kind of didn't figure out what I'm going to do for Science Fair—will hopefully figure out before actually falling asleep (also any ideas?—a project that's "useful to society")

DAYS 11 TO 19

I'm going to the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) International Final at Singapore!

• Took a flight to Abu Dhabi (UAE) then to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) • Visited Kuala Lumpur

• Took a bus to Singapore where I met the rest of my team • On the first day of the competition we assembled our robot and tested it, everything worked fine • On the second day a surprise rule was announced and we programmed the robot to do it. In the end we didn't have enough time margin but we did the best score without the surprise rule • On the last day, a new set of missions was announced. We scored 80 points in our best round. We were placed #C0980UBCWHX| out of 112 teams

• Visited Singapore and came back home

Day 20 of 50 days to 2026! I set up a n8n server today and I am in love. It is so much fun to make workflows and have them just work. Definitely a bit nicer than building myself a fully custom app for everything lol. I ended up automating my job's shift scheduling to auto import into my calendar as well as update the event if it changes duration or is deleted. I also have a fancy slack alert that lets me know when I have a shift that conflicts with something. I also have a robotics meeting today which should be fun and we are going to setup advantage scope which should hopefully give us some nicer diagnostics to work with. Oh and its the first day of AoC today! I ended up completing today last night right after it released and have a fancy repo with a nice cli to run everything over on my tangled repo! tangled.org/dunkirk.sh/aoc-2025

i've tried to made a modern tetris bot today, it was worse then i initially planned though 😞 (pls ignore my bad play, haven't played in a while)

Day 17 of 50, I: • woke up kind of late I think then got up to code

• FAILED TO GET MY CODE TO WORK

• spent a long while doing homework 🎒 • watched a 3 hour long movie

• need to come up with an idea for my Science Fair project (some kind of website or other coding project that's "useful to society")

Day 16 of 50 (again? ig counting was wrong...), I: • coded for like a little over 2h on my siege project (my self bot) trying to get adding emojis to work (and failing)

• got more help from @:jollyroger182: on adding emojis, which is clearly difficult considering even #C02T3CU03T3| went down lol

• went somewhere for like 6-7 hours (actually) by biking, which took like more than 20 minutes

• actually made 0 contributions on GitHub since none of my code has been working well enough to commit it

Days 12, 13, 14, and 15 of 50 (yeah I missed a bunch of days + also Slack migration), I: • don't have school until next Monday because of Thanksgiving break

• drove to Northern California for my brother's marching band state competition on Sunday; they got 2nd place

• stopped on the way at my friend's house for a sleepover on Saturday since the drive was like 4.5 hours

• woke up really late on Monday (like 11ish I think??) 🛏 • planned filming and stuff for my English video project on Monday 📜 • actually filmed the English video project clips on Tuesday (today) for 2 hours 📹 • went to the dentist for a normal checkup; everything's fine 🦷 • finished @ToneTagFramework(lraj23) , my Siege Week 12 project, on Saturday and Tuesday

• survived the Slack migration, but ended up joining the IRC anyways

Day 15 of 50 days to 2026! We are back on slack!!! It's been a rollercoaster and stuff broke but we now have enterprize! IRC was a super fun experience that I hope we continue using which leads me to my project for the day! Since I had a fair bit of free time this afternoon I mostly just chatted with my friends on IRC but then got inspired to make a little LLM bot to play with! It actually worked shockingly well just hooking it up really simply but I improved it a bunch to have conversation history and to be able to jump into conversations when it felt like it. I nicknamed the bot tacy and gave it the personality of a sassy and slightly eccentric dino :) My other project for the day was making a slack <> irc bridge! This ended up being super fun and there are still improvements to be made but all the basics work! You can link your username on slack to your nick on irc and when you send a message on irc it will display it with your profile picture on slack along with your name! For users that aren't linked they are assigned a random colored profile picture that is very similar to rainbow highlighting on irc clients. Images and files work as they are uploaded to the hackclub cdn and then shared as a link which many irc clients like halloy auto expand (this also works from the irc side to slack where it is rendered as an embed)! Formatting also works both ways and I created a custom slack mrkdwn parser to handle it! If you want to try it in slack then use /irc-bridge-user to link your user to irc nick and /irc-bridge-channel to start syncing a channel. The respective unbridge version of those commands will unlink the two and there is a /irc-bridge-list command as well. You can try the sync in #C064DNF64LU| or #C09V3DYD4QK|

GUESS WHO SHIPPED THEIR HACKPAD!!! i think i forgot to scrapbook yesterday because i thought of doing it, wrote the entry in my mind, and forgot i didnt write it in slack the lock in call really helped, i missed making the speed devboard tho 🥀 i just have to make one more t5 project and i might be able to go to prototype idk tho about my schedule and i still have to ask my parents for permission i finished two school projects, my health project and my photosynthesis biology project this took two nights of 2am sleep for some reason i feel more awake the later i sleep, i think im just weird 😛 i think i finally found my true friend group at school, they kept me motivated when i was locking in in all of my work at midnight 😄 discord is such a peak social media platform, no hate to slack ofc but its more of a workspace type thing, i love discord activities and all the fun little things in discord like soundboard and gifs i need to lock in for my ftc team, i need to cad a robot design for our qualifier soon, we are kind of a rookie team and we are all learning how to do all the robotics stuff like cadding, coding, 3d printing, etc while managing like a dozen other activities and school and everything 😞 i love onshape for cadding, sketching and extruding is just so satisfying

i also have to learn more godot so i can do well in skillsusa this year, hopefully nats?? and i need to make my ev build and ento binder for scioly 😛 ❤️ thats all for today i gotta sleep now ;)

Yo Hack Club! 😎 So I hopped into the 50-Day Challenge with a couple of goals that I really wanna lock in before the year ends, and honestly… it’s been going well so far. My goals are: 1. To build a solid robotics team at my school. 2. Make better use of GitHub and jump into more collab projects 3. Level up my web dev skills + overall tech stack And today I’m hyped to share a little win: I just crossed 400 GitHub contributions! Hey guys, I am working on/researching a software/hardware hybrid which works in helping better, safer and greener navigation for maritime explorations. I have run some sims and got some promising results but don't know what to do with this(I'm stuck in a phase idk how to get out of). What do I do???(I added Images of my results and a below is a short summary of my idea) The project is about building a next-gen navigation + communication system for underwater exploration. Instead of relying fully on sonar (which hurts marine life) or light (which fails in turbid water), it mixes both in a hybrid hive system. Small bots form a local swarm that communicates with each other using low-impact signals (pulsed blue/green light, occasional short acoustic chirps). They share positioning data, cooperate to map, and compress their raw sensor info. Only one bot or buoy takes responsibility for long-range communication with satellites or surface networks. That keeps emissions low, power use efficient, and the environment safer.

You ever wanted to politely tell people “dog” ain’t allowed in ur catty channel? Well I built a bot, just for you! @WordBAN ! All you gotta do is ping it, add to your channel, then run /ban-word dog and boom the bot will do your dirty work every time someone says “dog”. Check all the commands in Commands.md! Seeing the @/ ping prevention hack in help channels and how this could be made better, I decided to make @NoPing , a Slack bot which automatically converts all mentions with lookalike links that won’t ping. It’s very simple: /np before your message. It doesn’t work in threads for now (slash commands don’t work in threads); I’ll use some sort of composer (like the edit modal, which I’ve implemented) and a “Reply to this thread” shortcut. I intentionally made it work without databases (by using text checks before executing edit functions) which might backfire

Just shipped #C091PEQP7CJ|! It's like #C07UJMV9389| but for Summer of Making, and gives you updates for stock changes, new items and price reductions! I took a lot of what I learnt from High Seas Monitor and Arcade Monitor to make the codebase more maintainable and easy to hack on! •

happy-dom (dom library for nodejs/bun) is used to parse the som shop's html • 🚢 arktype (a library to validate the shape of types) is used for safe env vars, better intellisense, and to ensure that the scraping script isn't reporting false/undefined data because of a page change (it'll stop the script from running further and pinging people for false updates) •

sentry is used to monitor errors. since the bot does html scraping, it can be slightly fragile - sentry (to report errors) + arktype (to throw errors) help prevent that from happening •

jsx-slack lets you use jsx instead of json for block kit! while it doesn't use react, it helps keep your code a lot shorter and you get better intellisense. i use it for all the bot's messages and it's been a joy to use! •

probly shoulda posted this when it was still in action but the first thing i did when i got back from china was make a tiny slack bot to randomize my profile picture every 30 minutes to a random photo i took while i was there! code @ github.com/gusruben/slack-pfp includes a setup guide if anyone else wants to do something similar!
