this summer, I built BioRSP (Biological Radar Scanning Plots)—an open-source tool that took a huge amount of time, effort, and dedication LOL I barely got sleep working
BioRSP is designed to enhance the analysis of single-cell gene expression patterns by simulating radar-like scanning across cell clusters. It’s a major step forward in bioinformatics, particularly for those of us focused on spatial transcriptomics and understanding cellular heterogeneity.
What does that mean? Imagine trying to figure out what’s going on at a massive concert. You can hear some people singing loudly, others talking quietly, and some areas where it’s just silent. But if you were up in the sky with a radar, you could scan the crowd from different angles and figure out exactly where the loudest singers are, where groups of people are talking, and where it’s completely quiet.
In a similar way, BioRSP helps scientists "scan" groups of cells to find out which ones are "singing" (expressing genes) the loudest, which ones are "whispering," and which ones are silent. This tool is super important for discovering new insights about how cells work together in tissues, like in our hearts or brains.
Basically, I wanted it to be a completely new way to visualize and analyze spatial gene expression patterns. Currently, prelim results show that it outperforms traditional methods, like Polar Gini Curves, in detecting subtle and significant spatial patterns. I've also successfully used in a case study involving neonatal mouse heart tissue :blahaj-heart:

For times when they need blood urgently, they have one person painstakingly go through the sheet, filter out donors who haven’t donated in over three months, check if they meet certain other criteria, find out their distance from the center by putting in their address on google maps or something and individually call them on the phone and ask if they can donate. idk about you but no one deserves to go through that 💀
I asked the manager of the blood bank if I could maybe build something to help solve this as a summer project, and he, being the awesome person he is, agreed and even offered to take me around the blood bank!

@ivan0Just finished the first iteration of a project where I wrote the code for FRC Team 1323's 2023 Charged Up robot in my + my team's own style. @NikosTsilas-U04N415FE4T0For #C06SBHMQU8G| I almost completed the V1 of the website. I probably have to submit the hours just because of the 25-hour limit. These sessions are the sessions that I am most proud of this summer. I wrote amazing code, I learned new Astro thingies (like dynamic routing) and also worked on my fav thing (Tailwind).

Also wrapped up bugs and working on deployment, the app is finally done after 150+ hours!
There are obviously still places of improvement and likely more bugs, but all the main features are complete now.

@FireEntity0I built a fully controllable, self propelled electric RC aircraft, capable of flying up to 80km/h (tested) at an altitude of several thousand feet (theoretical). The entire aircraft weighs a mere 250 grams so it's legal to fly without any license! Flies smoothly with its 3 channel control system, consisting of throttle control, rudder control, and elevator control. The wings have a polyhedral design allowing the aircraft to stabilize itself laterally and remove the need for ailerons! An oversized rudder allows for precise control and drifting mid-air! The propeller, which is 6 inches in diameter with a 4 inch pitch is capable of spinning at 16 thousand RPM on a full battery, while the motor pulls ~40-50 watts. The aircraft is controlled with a 2.4gHz TX/RX system. Winglets (triangles on the wingtip) improve aerodynamic efficiency by reducing wingtip vorticies and make the aircraft look oh-so much cooler! Fully decorated with decals, stripes, and a faux aircraft registration drawn on the body! The aircraft has a wingspan of nearly 3 feet.
I started this project before Arcade but finished/improved the aircraft during the Summer!

@CyrilLi0I am working on a library to automatically generate public transit POV videos (popular in China, may also be called timelapses in English). I have worked on this project throughout the summer (and before, started beginning of this year), but haven't bothered logging any hours 😭

This is benchmark 3/3, marking the completion of my github workflow builder
I created a visual editor for github workflows! You know, those things which automate tasks and testing for you and stuff like that. It features a full visual-based editor,, teams, accounts, and so much more! In this project, I learned react and it has made me so much better at front-end development. The website is connected to a database hosted by mongodb and everything else is done internally, no external apis or anything like that!
I plan to update the website soon for better screen support, more components, more features, ect. Currently it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to use a laptop/monitor screen around 1920x1080. Many functions do not work on mobile at this time
This took a total of 59 hours and is probably the last huge project I submit to arcade. It's been an amazing summer.
